    one of my Client is the director of 23 company out of which 9 is a private company and 8 is the public company and 6 companies are inactive has taken status for dormant. whether he can actively participate in all the company now as per the Companies Act?

    • Dear Divyansh,

      Please find below an answer to your query-

      No person shall hold office as a director, including any alternate directorship, in more than twenty companies at the same time; however, in this twenty companies, the maximum number of public companies in which a person can be appointed as a director shall not exceed ten.

      For reckoning the limit of public companies, directorship in private companies that are either holding or subsidiary company of a public company shall be included.

      For reckoning the limit of directorship of twenty companies, the directorship in a dormant company shall not be included.
