    Is stamp duty require to pay on transfer of shares as a gift ? if yes then on which value?

      Yes stamp duty is payable even shares are being transfered as gift. The consideration value will be :-

      Quoted Shares: Market value of the share as on date of transfer

      Unquoted Shares: The fare market value of the shares. One has to get the shares valued by valuer.

      Greetings!

      as per the provision of Article 62 (a), Schedule I of Indian Stamp Act, 1899, the transferee is required to pay stamp duty at the rate of Rs 0.25 for every Rs 100 of the value of the share.
